Our Story

From Vilnius to Chicago

Kaimas — meaning "village" in Lithuanian — was born from a simple dream: to share the genuine flavors of Baltic home cooking with neighbors far from the homeland. Our founders brought recipes passed down through generations, from smoky pork dishes to cooling beet soups that taste like summer in Vilnius.

Since opening on Chicago's southwest side, we have welcomed Lithuanian immigrants, their families, and curious food lovers seeking something truly different. We source traditional ingredients wherever possible and bake our own rye bread every morning.

Traditions at the Table

Lithuanian cuisine is patient and honest — soups that simmer all day, dumplings pinched by hand, desserts that take three days to make. At Kaimas, we refuse to rush any of it. Good food is always worth waiting for.
